A list (in no particular order) of what's in my head that I want to knit. The idea is to up-date it from time to time, add notes if I manage to start or finish anything, and generally use this page as a dumping ground before things fall out of my head forever...
1. Well, first of all there are the yarns that I got in Germany a few weeks back...
I've done a swatch of the Big Ball on 8mm needles (8-9mm recommended) and it's come out at 10 stitches and 16 rows. The ball band says 9 stitches and 14 rows on 8mm needles size so either I need to scale down or find some patterns that fit my tension. I'm still thinking about a long cardigan with this.
2. A heap of Rowan Kid Classic
Anyone here ancient enough to remember The Rowan Knitting Magazine no. 28? That's how long ago I bought this yarn! Because, you see, I wanted to knit this lovely neat garter stitch cardigan called Onza...
I love its smart and classic shape.
Anyway, I tried 3 times, (3 times!!!) to start it and somehow each time the darts at the back waist foxed me.
Try as I might, I could never get them in the same place row after row, so I'd pull it out and try again. I'm not sure whether I have the patience to try a fourth time or whether I shall use the yarn for something else. Perhaps this...
3. Aleita jumper from Chic Knits
I really like this style, so if I don't use the Rowan I might try with the...
4. Schoeller+Stahl Ronda, now that I have enough of it...
(see how complicated this list is getting?)
That is, assuming the tensions are compatible.
5. Then there's this slubby silk cotton mix that my aunt gave me many, many , many years ago. I think it may be a Jaeger yarn. It's been knitted into various things or half-things, and been pulled out again, and then I found it in my spotty knitting bag looking like this:
It's a front and a back, or er... something... It looks like I was following a pattern, it has markers in it and everything, but I have no idea what pattern! Which makes it very annoying. It would be really nice if I didn't have to pull these out, but I will need to work out what to do next, which I suspect will be plot the whole thing out on graph paper and work out what to do to finish it. Small annoyed-with-myself grump.
6. Ten balls of Debbie Bliss's Prima
I got this at the Knitting and Stitch Show in Dublin last year - I have a bit of a thing about this colour.
7. The tentative plan is to knit this Chic Knits v-neck cardigan with it...
... but again I need to see if tensions are compatible. If not, there's a basic cardi in the Stitch and Bitch book which will work.
8. A whole heap of navy blue cotton jumper...
I got this yarn a couple of years ago in Germany. It's Baumwolle-Classic from Schewe and somewhere between a 4ply and an DK. I wanted a lacy jumper to replace one I'd bought in Jigsaw years ago and stupidly given to Oxfam. I made this jumper up as I went along and it shows - it's far too wide and the neck is too narrow.
I have lots of yarn over so the plan is to pull this out and knit a man's-style ribbed cardi with a zipped front. But I need to work out a pattern first, so this may take a while.
9. This lovely Crocus cardigan from The Brown Stitch...
... might be a potential when combined with the Debbie Bliss Prima or the Shoeller + Stahl Ronda.
10. Alternatively, and also from The Brown Stitch, is this Concetta cardigan...
Another potential use for the S+S Ronda, the Rowan Kid Classic or the Debbie Bliss.
11. And then there's the completely unseasonal ChicKami from ChicKnits...
Perhaps that was the kind of thing I was aiming for with the cotton/silk mix.
